Welcome Back ACS

Dear ACS Families,

It is with great joy and pride that I welcome everyone back for the 2021-2022 school year. Last year showed the power and the importance of community. Each and every single member of our ACS community worked diligently and played a vital role in navigating a difficult year. In the midst of all the trials and throughout the changes, I am truly thankful for each and every one of you and so proud of our children who persevered to the end. I am very excited that we will all be back to a more “normal” school year. I anticipate great partnerships and support from the ACS families as we move forward.

During our weekly camp fire assemblies students will participate in the ACS chant which captures our beliefs:

At ACS, We do our best!

Hand in Hand, With TRACK we stand.

All can Succeed, Just do your part!

With respect, And a kind heart.

Yes we are! Going far!

Because we are… ACS!

As part of our community building and  social emotional learning we will make “Who I Am” maps. Each teacher, and student and their families, will make a map showing students' names, interests, and characteristics. Throughout the year students will add on to the map as they learn more about themselves, each other, and gain more content area knowledge.  We will share our maps with each other with the ACS community. In that way we can listen to multiple perspectives and find strength and unity within the diversity that exists.

Your child’s class placement for the 21-22 school year will be available through the Genesis portal on August 20th. At that time you will see your child’s teacher for the upcoming school year.  If you are unable to see the placement or have any concerns please call the ACS main office.

Please know that these assignments were created through several months of planning and collaboration among the faculty members, while also using parent input as part of the process. Each class was created to generate a balance of students and the most productive and diverse environment for learning. We will continue assessments and conversations throughout the year as we work to ensure that each student’s experience is successful.

Also, enclosed is our letter regarding arrival and dismissal at ACS. Please call us with any questions you may have.

We are looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday, September 8th!

Sincerely,

Maria Barceló Martinez, Ed.D.
