Internet-Enabled Device Policy Reminder

Posted Date: 08/25/26 (09:17 AM)

Dear ACS Families,

As we get ready for another great school year, we want to share an important update regarding personal internet-enabled devices and our expectations during the school day.

In alignment with state law and our district’s “Off and Away” policy, students at ACS are expected to keep personal internet-enabled devices off or silenced and stored out of sight during the school day.

📱 What does this include?
Personal devices such as:

  • Smartphones
  • Smartwatches
  • Earbuds
  • Tablets and other internet-enabled devices
When does this apply?
From the time students arrive at school until dismissal at 2:45 PM.

🎓 What about learning?
When technology is needed for instruction, students will use district-issued devices. This allows technology to support learning while helping us maintain a classroom environment where students can stay focused, engaged, and connected with one another.

We ask that families take a few minutes to review these expectations with your child before the first day of school. Starting the year with a clear understanding of our expectations helps us create a positive, focused, and respectful learning environment for everyone.

For complete details, please review:
Board Policy 5516 – Student Use of Internet-Enabled Devices
• Board Regulation 5516 – Student Use of Internet-Enabled Devices

Thank you, as always, for your partnership and for helping us make ACS a place where students can learn, grow, and be fully present each day.

We are looking forward to a wonderful year together! 🦁❤️
